Job Description

The Post Oak Group is seeking an Investment Banking Intern to support the firm’s lower middle market capital markets and M&A practice. This role is designed for a motivated student or recent graduate seeking substantive exposure to live transactions and a rigorous foundation in deal execution.

This is a working internship, not an observational one. Interns contribute to real workstreams on active mandates under close supervision by senior bankers, with clear expectations, structured feedback, and meaningful learning objectives throughout the program.

Role Overview

As an Intern, you will support the deal team across research, analysis, and materials preparation for sell-side M&A, private placements, and capital raises. You will develop core technical skills—financial analysis, market research, and professional communication—while learning how transactions are actually executed inside a regulated environment.

The role demands curiosity, precision, and professionalism, along with the discretion required when working with confidential transaction information.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct company and industry research to support transaction positioning, valuation work, and investor universe construction
• Support financial analysis, assisting with data gathering, spreading comparable companies and precedent transactions, and maintaining supporting schedules
• Assist with materials preparation, supporting the drafting and formatting of teasers, presentations, and internal deliverables under senior review
• Help maintain deal infrastructure, including research files, contact lists, trackers, and data room organization
• Prepare internal summaries, including meeting notes, market updates, and diligence item tracking
• Participate in deal team meetings and structured training sessions covering M&A processes, capital raising, and capital markets fundamentals
