Job Description

Director of Finance & Investment

The Center for Global Health and Development (CGHD)

is seeking a Director of Finance & Investment to lead financial structuring, investment strategy, and capital mobilization across our blended finance and global health initiatives. This is a senior role for an experienced finance professional ready to help drive high-impact, high-visibility work at the intersection of global health and development finance.

The role is based remotely, with regular engagement across time zones and international travel to workshops, roundtables, investor meetings, and government convenings.

About CGHD

CGHD is a global platform that brings together leaders from G7 governments, UN agencies, development finance institutions, philanthropies, and the private sector to advance global health and economic development.

CGHD scales impactful initiatives through blended finance, innovative health financing, and cross-sector partnerships. Its work spans health manufacturing, energy reliability for health facilities, SME development, supply chains, and disease elimination efforts in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

CGHD develops strategy, provides technical assistance, mobilizes financing, and coordinates multi-stakeholder engagement across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the financial architecture of a growing platform at the center of high-level global health financing.

Position Overview

The Director of Finance & Investment will lead financial structuring, deal analysis, and capital mobilization across CGHD's portfolio of blended finance vehicles. This role sits close to executive leadership and carries direct responsibility for investment strategy, due diligence oversight, and investor relations.

The ideal candidate is a rigorous financial strategist analytically sharp, execution-oriented, and comfortable representing the organization in high-stakes settings with development finance institutions, multilateral investors, and private capital partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structuring and financial modeling for blended finance vehicles, including capital stacks, first-loss tranches, and risk-sharing instruments.
  • Oversee due diligence processes for prospective investments and partnerships, coordinating analysis across financial, operational, and governance dimensions.
  • Drive fundraising and capital mobilization efforts, including engagement with sovereign wealth funds, DFIs, and institutional investors.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for investors, funders, and financial partners on structuring and portfolio matters.
  • Prepare and oversee investment memoranda, financial models, and due diligence materials for high-level audiences.
  • Manage and mentor a team of analysts and associates supporting financial structuring and investment research.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and financial health across active investment vehicles, flagging risks and opportunities to leadership.
  • Represent CGHD's financial and investment strategy at international workshops, investor convenings, and technical working groups.
  • Identify and evaluate new financing structures, instruments, and capital sources aligned with CGHD's mission.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, development finance, blended finance, or a related field, with demonstrated experience leading financial structuring or investment analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPP, MFin, or related) strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record structuring or evaluating complex financing vehicles, investment instruments, or capital raises.
  • Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills, with fluency in blended finance mechanics (first-loss capital, guarantees, concessional layering, SRTs).
  • Excellent judgment operating in sensitive political and diplomatic environments; ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate competing stakeholder interests.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior analysts or associates.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing investor-facing and board-level financial materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-stakes workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel required) and Google Suite.

Preferred / Additional Assets

  • Experience with sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions, or institutional investors.
  • Prior work directly with G7 governments, UN agencies, or multilateral institutions.
  • Track record of successful capital raises or grant awards (e.g., Convergence, Gates Foundation, DFC).
  • Experience in emerging-market health systems or health manufacturing.
  • Established network within the global health finance or impact investing community.

Language Requirements

English required; additional languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese) strongly preferred given the organization's work across Africa, Latin America, and the Indo-Pacific.

Location

Remote. Frequent international travel required for workshops, investor meetings, and government engagements.
