Job Description
CONTROLLER Fort Pierce, FL | $90K to $110K Base | Full-Time, On-Site Applications close December 1, 2026 WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR YOUR TYPICAL BEAN COUNTER. If you want a quiet office, a closed door, and a stack of reconciliations nobody asks about, please don't apply. We mean that with respect. There are great jobs out there for you. This isn't one of them. Rhino is a premium metal roofing company on the Treasure Coast doing close to $20 million a year. We fabricate our own panels, run around 50 sales appointments a week, and sell about half a million dollars of roofing in a normal week. The sales engine is running hot. The money side hasn't kept up. We need someone to come in, take control of the numbers, and never let go. THE FIRST 90 DAYS ARE GOING TO BE GRUNT WORK. We're not going to dress it up. You'll be in the weeds early. Reconciling accounts, chasing down old transactions, fixing job costing, tying QuickBooks to JobNimbus, and finding out why the numbers don't match. Some days you'll be doing bookkeeping. You'll roll up your sleeves because that's what it takes to get the books where they need to be. Then you build the system that keeps them clean for good. WHAT THIS SEAT ACTUALLY DOES. You own the truth about our money. Every month, on time, with no excuses. - Clean books and a monthly close that runs like clockwork - Job costing we trust, so we know the profit on every single roof - AR and collections under control - Commissions paid right the first time, every time - A rolling cash forecast so leadership sees problems coming before they hit - Models that answer "what happens if we do this?" before the CEO makes the call WHO YOU ARE. You have energy. You walk in the door ready to go, and you keep pace with a founder and an integrator who move fast and think big. You can talk. You explain the numbers to a roofer, a sales rep, or the CEO in plain English, and they walk away understanding exactly where we stand. You make good decisions and you know which ones are yours. You're not the decision maker. You're the person who makes sure the decision maker has the right numbers, the right models, and the honest truth. Then you back the call and help make it work. You're not afraid of the CEO. You'll tell him when a number doesn't support an idea, and you'll bring a better option instead of just saying no. You're not so conservative that nothing ever gets done, and you're not so loose that the numbers stop meaning anything. You hold the standard and stay flexible on everything else. You love technology. You already use AI and automation to work faster, and you know when a tool got it wrong. Accuracy first, speed second, both every day. WHO YOU ARE NOT. - Someone who needs three layers of approval to make a move - Someone who hides in a spreadsheet and hopes nobody asks questions - Someone who says "that's not my job" - Someone who needs it perfect before anyone can see it - Someone who needs this to be remote THE STANDARD. Our core values aren't wall art. We hire and fire on them. - Extreme Ownership. If a number is wrong, it's yours to find out why and fix it for good. - Relentless Work Ethic. You close on time in peak season, when it's hard and nobody's watching. - Humble Confidence. You'll tell leadership the hard truth with data, and you stay coachable while you do it. Integrity with money isn't on the list because it's a given. WHAT YOU BRING. - 7+ years in accounting, with at least 3 running the books as a controller, assistant controller, or the person in charge - Construction, home services, or trades experience. You know job costing, deposits, and progress billing - Strong QuickBooks Online skills. JobNimbus is a plus - You've built financial processes from scratch, not just followed them - CPA is a plus, not required. Bilingual English and Spanish is a real advantage here WHAT YOU GET. $90K to $110K base, based on experience, plus a 401(k) and paid time off. A real seat at the leadership table. A founder who wants the truth. And the chance to build a finance department from the ground up, starting with Rhino and growing into the founder's other companies. HOW TO APPLY. Send your resume and a short note telling us about a time you found money a company didn't know it was losing. What did you find, and what did you fix? Applications close December 1, 2026.
