Job Description

Mount Pleasant, PA | Full-Time, Hybrid (2 days

Position Summary

At WATT Fuel Cell, we're not looking for someone who simply wants to sit behind a spreadsheet all day. We're looking for an ambitious, analytically minded professional who wants to understand how a business operates, how financial decisions are made, and how strategy turns into execution.

WATT is a growing clean-energy technology company developing innovative fuel cell systems. As we continue to scale, we're seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to work closely with our finance leadership team and support financial planning, operational analytics, strategic decision-making, and company-wide business initiatives.

We're looking for someone who brings a strong financial foundation, but also the curiosity, initiative, and ambition to do more.

The ideal candidate has *2–5 years of relevant experience*, enjoys digging into data, understands financial fundamentals, and wants to take ownership of meaningful projects.

If you're someone who enjoys understanding the bigger picture, solving problems, and seeing how your work directly influences business decisions, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

*Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis*

  • Support company-wide annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, long-range financial planning, and scenario analysis.
  • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual reporting, identify variances, and help explain the financial drivers behind business performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial models, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and liquidity forecasts.
  • Analyze revenue, margins, operating expenses, headcount, capital expenditures, and other key financial metrics.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for finance leadership and management.

*Operational Analytics & Business Performance*

  • Work closely with Finance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and other departments to understand how business activities impact financial results.
  • Analyze production costs, labor and material usage, inventory, purchasing commitments, manufacturing efficiencies, and capital investments.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve visibility into company performance.
  • Identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and recommend opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
  • Help strengthen financial accountability by ensuring business decisions are supported by accurate, timely data.

*Corporate Strategy & Business Planning*

  • Support financial analysis related to strategic initiatives, business growth, customer programs, and capital investments.
  • Assist with financial projections, scenario modeling, and long-term planning.
  • Research industry developments, financial markets, and business opportunities relevant to WATT's growth.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership to evaluate financial risks, opportunities, and business decisions.

*Leadership, Board & Investor Reporting*

  • Assist in preparing financial presentations, management reports, board materials, and investor-related information.
  • Support financial analysis and reporting associated with financing activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop clear, concise reports that communicate financial performance and key business insights.
  • Gain exposure to executive-level financial decision-making and the strategic direction of a growing technology company.

*Special Projects & Professional Development*

  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving finance, operations, engineering, and business strategy.
  • Help improve financial reporting processes, analytical tools, and business intelligence.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and communicate findings or recommendations to leadership.
  • Expand your responsibilities as your experience, skills, and understanding of the business grow.
  • Perform additional financial and business analysis as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, financial analysis, accounting, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, identify trends, and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accountability.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both financial and non-financial teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to investigate challenges through to resolution.

Preferred, But Not Required

  • Experience in manufacturing, energy, technology, or a high-growth business environment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing cost analysis, inventory management, standard costing, or operational performance metrics.
  • Experience with ERP systems, financial planning software, or business intelligence platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or other analytical and visualization tools.
  • Experience preparing materials for executive leadership, board reporting, investor relations, or financing activities.
